Mapping The DisciplineEurope has a longstanding and thriving international legal research culture. The challenge for the future is to ensure that researchers throughout Europe are able to collaborate more easily with their counterparts in other countries, to get a better idea of research in progress elsewhere, and to be able to contact their peers in other parts of Europe. The European Society of International Law is ideally placed to contribute to these challenges and to encourage synergies among the many national institutions in Europe engaged in international legal research. The project for ‘Mapping international law in Europe’ aims to produce a database of all institutions involved in international law research in Europe and to make the results available online from the ESIL website. National rapporteurs in over 40 countries have been designated, and have already submitted detailed reports. Electronic tools are currently being devised to put the database online as soon as possible. Coming soon! |
